Helping Hand Rescue Mission Community Outreach Center
Loving, Serving, and Giving in our beautiful Huntington Station community (and beyond) since 1965.

We’re grateful to share that our Community Kitchen has received its Certificate of Occupancy. A final mechanical adjustment is currently being addressed with our insurance company, after which we will schedule the required Health Department inspection.
We appreciate the continued support of our community as we complete these final steps and look forward to serving in this space as soon as all approvals are in place.
Sharing The Love & Hope
In Every Season
We believe love changes lives. Through compassion, service, and faith in action, we share hope with individuals and families—reminding them they are seen, valued, and never alone.
Volunteers-Thank You!
As we look ahead with anticipation toward Spring, we are especially grateful for our volunteers who continue to show up with open hearts and willing hands. You’ve sorted, stocked, packed, carried, listened, and loved—sometimes tired, always faithful.
With each new day, we are reminded that this season is about renewal, growth, and fresh opportunities to serve. Because of you, families in our community are met with dignity, compassion, and tangible support. Your presence brings hope where it’s needed most and reminds us all that love is something we actively choose to give.
As we prepare for the months ahead—new outreach efforts, community gatherings, and continued care for our neighbors—we do so with thankful hearts. You are part of every box packed, every smile shared, and every life touched.
Thank you for standing in the gap, for serving with grace, and for being the hands and feet of love in every season. We truly could not do this without you.
About Us
The Mission was founded in 1965 by Reverend J.A. Gaines, his wife, Reverend Rose Marie Gaines, and her mother, Florence E. Meringola. After witnessing local poverty and food insecurity first hand, they invested everything that they had into building Helping Hand Rescue Mission with the view that if they could help even one person it was worth it. They sacrificed much to build a strong community center and leave a legacy of Loving, Serving, and Giving as witness to the love of God to be carried on. Their prayer was for the HHRM to remain a "lighthouse" in our community.
